FAQ

The CamView IP Pro, Pro+, and Pro-D are designed to facilitate the installation and maintenance of surveillance video equipment. The Tester works with both Standard Definition analog NTSC/PAL camera systems, High Definition Analog, and ONVIF conformant IP (Ethernet) camera systems. Also, the testers provide an RS485 port for PTZ control of analog PTZ cameras and can provide POE for operating IP cameras, or 12VDC (not to exceed 2A) to power analog cameras. The IP Camera Tester allows you to perform Ethernet and network tests, capture video (snapshots and video recording), playback video, generate video test patterns for monitor checking and perform analog camera testing. They also allow you to check microphone/audio sources and even provide a bright flashlight function. Both recorded images and video can be transferred to PCs or other devices via the USB port connection.

  • Q: I've noticed that neither of the network ports are active. How can I troubleshoot this?
A: Firstly, please verify that the camera you're connecting to is active. Our tests have shown that the unit was able to charge, connect to our network, and successfully interface with both an IP and an analog camera while being tested in-house.

Further, it's worth noting that many new IP cameras demand an initial setup on a computer. This setup often involves establishing a unique username and password, downloading any software updates provided by the manufacturer, and creating an ONVIF user. If these steps are needed, you should be able to find specific instructions in the camera's user manual or on the manufacturer's website.

  • Q. I am getting wrong password and username message
    A. User name and password information is not an error of the tester. This information is the camera only. Our testers do not have any passwords or user information requirements. If you are having trouble with passwords you need to contact the camera manufacturer or refer to their manual for default user name password information or details on any special set up specifications they may have for initializing their cameras.

  • Q. How do I setup an AXIS Camera to allow ONVIF Users
    A. Download our Setting up an Axis Camera to allow ONVIF Users Document
and Axis ONVIF Setup V178 Document

  • Q. Is there a software upgrade that will provide all analog formats to my device?
    A. Updates for the unit are performed by connecting the unit to a network via the rj45 port, going into settings, scrolling down to “System Upgrade” and hitting the right arrow. The unit will automatically look for any new updates available. This process id detailed in the user manual section 4.7.3.
When viewing analog cameras the format and pattern can be changed in the “Analog video generator” section of the main menu.
