FAQs

The Triplett Model EPC175 Indoor Air Quality Meter displays Particle Count (PM2.5/PM10), Air Temperature, Relative Humidity, Formaldehyde (HCHO) and TVOCs on the 3" Color TFT display with 5 brightness levels. Internal memory stores 5000 data sets (PM2.5, PM10, date and time) and can be displayed as historical data curves. A PM2.5 programmable alarm provides 5 settings (10, 35, 75, 150, 200ppm) to alert you when the selected level has been exceeded. Additional features include programmable auto power off/auto sleep with disable and an auto sleep funtion that turns off the display but measurement still continues. Includes (1) Li-ion battery, AC Adapter and USB power/charging cable.

  • Q. I noticed that the manual for my EPC175 mentions it displays CO2 levels. Is this correct?
    A. We apologize for the confusion; this information is incorrect and resulted from a typo in some versions of the manual. The EPC175 does not display CO2 levels. We are in the process of updating the manuals to rectify this error. For access to the most current version of the manual, please click here.

  • Q.Are the readings on my EP175 Environmental Particle Counter effected by Direct Sunlight, Heavy Fog, or Smoke
    A. Yes, the device uses the laser light scattering weight test method, so the sensors can be affected by direct sunlight, heavy fog or smoke. To count particles laser light is used to reflect light from the particles as they pass through the laser beam. Airborne particle counters using laser diode technology count particles by collecting scattered light inside the sensor of the particle counter therefore it is best to place it in an environment which avoids these environmental conditions
  • Q.Can the EPC175 Particle Counter count pollen particle concentration indoors?
    A. "Pollen particle sizes are too big and most likely wouldn't work well. The EPC175 is more for the very small particles. Additionally the channels are based on those sizes for cleanrooms and particles that can't be seen by eye. Here is what was found on line for the size of pollen particles: Average size of allergy-producing pollen is 25 microns (one micron equals . 000039 inches), but some may be as small as 2.5 microns or as large as 200 microns. Since each plant species produces its own unique pollen, each grain can be identified. So the smaller ones could register but for the most species probably too big.
