  • Q. I'm trying to test an IP camera with my device, and it finds the IP but asks for a username and password. Where do I enter this information?

    A. Before testing an IP camera, you must first set up the camera using a PC. This initial setup involves establishing a unique username and password, configuring the ONVIF user, and downloading any necessary firmware updates for the camera. Once you have completed this setup on a PC, you can then enter the established username and password into your device to access the camera and adjust its parameters. This step is crucial for ensuring that your device can communicate with the camera correctly.

  • Q. I am unable to download anything from the Play Store on my Triplett Model 8174 CamView 7", and I don't see an option to download the Play Store App. Is there an update or something I can do to resolve this issue?

    A. While we don't have instructions or support for accessing the Google Play Store on the Triplett Model 8174 CamView 7", we found a workaround that might help. We suggest downloading the "APKpure" application, which is like an open-source version of the Google Play Store. From there, you should be able to download and update necessary apps. One of our customers had success using this method to access and program their Avigilon cameras. Please note that when downloading the app, the file size may be large (around 85mb), so it might take some time to complete the download (please be patient). Please note that as this method is not officially supported by the manufacturer, and we cannot guarantee its functionality.

  • Q. Can I install Google Play Store and Microsoft Intune on my Triplett CamView7?

    A. Yes, you can access the Google Play Store by using the Chrome browser in the IPC camera Test feature. Once you have access to the Play Store, you can then download the Microsoft Intune app. However, please note that we haven't specifically tested our device with the Intune app, so we can't guarantee that it will work perfectly for you.

  • Q: When I power on the device, the LEDs light up the screen and buttons, but nothing is displayed on the screen itself. What could be the problem?
A: If you've ensured that the unit has been adequately charged (for a minimum of several hours) and it still doesn't display anything on the screen, it's probable that there's an internal malfunction. In such cases, the unit should be sent back for repair or replacement.

  • Q. I am getting wrong password and username message
    A. User name and password information is not an error of the tester. This information is the camera only. Our testers do not have any passwords or user information requirements. If you are having trouble with passwords you need to contact the camera manufacturer or refer to their manual for default user name password information or details on any special set up specifications they may have for initializing their cameras.

  • Q. How do I setup an AXIS Camera to allow ONVIF Users
    A. Download our Setting up an Axis Camera to allow ONVIF Users Document
and Axis ONVIF Setup V178 Document

  • Q. Can the camera tester create reports on the cables that are tested with it?
    A. The 8174 can only generate reports on cameras it has connected to, showing things like user and camera information. It cannot generate reports on cable tests.

  • Q.  Can these devices be scanned for Virus?
  • A. The 8174 can be scanned if you download the proper software (they have an android operating system that can add and remove applications).

  • Q. Can wireless be deactivated?
  • A. Wi-Fi can be enabled and disabled.
