  • Q. What is a ratchet crimper, and what is its purpose?
    A. A ratchet crimper is a hand tool designed for crimping electrical connectors onto wires. It ensures a secure and uniform connection, preventing the wire from coming loose or forming a weak electrical joint. Ratchet crimpers are commonly used in electrical and telecommunications applications.
  • Q. How does a ratchet crimper work?
    A. A ratchet crimper features a mechanism that applies pressure gradually and consistently as you squeeze the handles. It ratchets or clicks to prevent over-crimping, ensuring that the crimp is just tight enough for a reliable connection. This mechanism enhances precision and minimizes the risk of damaging connectors or wires.
  • Q. What types of connectors can I crimp with a ratchet crimper?
    A. Ratchet crimpers are versatile and can be used with various types of connectors, including insulated and non-insulated terminals, splices, butt connectors, and more. They are suitable for both insulated and non-insulated wires.
