FAQ

The Triplett Model CM200 True RMS Open Jaw Clamp Meter can measure AC current up to 200A without breaking the circuit and fits into tight spaces where a standard clamp meter jaw is unable to close. This saves time and the circuit will not be damaged. True RMS provides better accuracy when measuring non-sinusoidal or noisy waveforms. Additional measurements include Resistance, Capacitance, Diode Test, and Continuity. Measurements can read on the 6000 count, reverse polarity LCD. Features include: a built-n NCV Detector with LED,  LoZ (impedance) mode for identifying ghost voltages, Min/Max for recording the highest and lowest readings, Auto power off with disable, and a built-in flashlight. Data Hold freezes the display for easy viewing.  CAT IV-600V safety category. Includes 2 AA batteries, test leads, and carrying case. 1-year warranty.

CM200-NIST Comes with Certificate of traceability to NIST standards
Please add 11 business days lead-time for the NIST calibration process

  • Q. What is an open jaw clamp meter?
    A. An open jaw clamp meter is a specialized electrical measurement tool used for non-contact current measurements. Unlike traditional clamp meters that require you to physically clamp around a conductor, open jaw clamp meters feature a hinged, open jaw design that allows you to measure current without disconnecting wires or cables.
  • Q. What is the primary purpose of using an open jaw clamp meter?
    A. The primary purpose of an open jaw clamp meter is to safely and conveniently measure electrical current in circuits and wires without the need for direct contact. It is commonly used by electricians, technicians, and engineers for troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Q. How does an open jaw clamp meter work?
    A. An open jaw clamp meter uses a magnetic sensor within the open jaw to detect and measure the magnetic field generated by the electrical current flowing through a conductor. This measurement is then displayed on the meter's digital screen as current in amperes (A).
