FAQ

The Triplett Model PR650 Motor and Phase Rotation Tester is designed to determine the correct phase wiring sequence (L1, L2, L3) for 3-phase system installations and identify contact or non-contact motor-rotation direction. It comes with color-coded test leads for easy connection to the system or motor under test. The LEDs display phase direction (clockwise/counter-clockwise) and indicate which phases are live. This tester includes test leads with large color-coded alligator clips, a convenient carrying case, and a 9V battery. It boasts a CAT IV-600V safety rating and comes with a 1-year warranty.

  • Q. What is a non-contact phase rotation meter?
    A. A non-contact phase rotation meter is an electronic device used to determine the direction of rotation (clockwise or counterclockwise) of a three-phase electrical system without making physical contact with the electrical conductors.
  • Q. What are the benefits of using a non-contact phase rotation meter?
    A. The key benefits include increased safety, speed, and convenience. Electricians can quickly determine phase rotation without having to de-energize circuits or make physical contact with conductors.
  • Q. Can a non-contact phase rotation meter identify faulty phases or wiring issues?
    A. While these meters are excellent for determining phase rotation, they are not specifically designed to identify faults or wiring issues within the electrical system. Additional testing equipment may be needed for fault detection.
