The Triplett HS10 Heat Stress WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) Meter monitors indoor/outdoor heat index to help limit the danger of heat-related injury. It simultaneously displays Air Temperature, Humidity, and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) or Heat Index and updates every 20 seconds. Features programmable audible and visual WBGT and Heat Index alarms with an adjustable audible alarm volume (75dB/60dB/mute)and 4 indicators that display heat stress alert level (Caution, Extreme Caution, Danger, Extreme Danger). An In/Out function switch measures WBGT with or without the effects of direct sunlight. °F/°C switchable. Wall mount for placing meter in a permanent position and tripod mount can be used to free-up your hands when taking measurements over an extended amount of time. Includes (2) AAA batteries and armstrap . 1-year warranty. For outdoor athletic training and events, construction, iron and steel foundries, brick firing plants, glass facilities, boiler rooms, mining sites, and other areas where heat index levels should be monitored.

  • Q. For the Triplett HS10, it states that the temperature accuracy is plus or minus 1.8 degrees F. Does this accuracy also apply to the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) readings?A. The specified accuracy of plus or minus 1.8 degrees F applies only to the direct temperature readings on the Triplett HS10. The WBGT is a calculated index that incorporates multiple factors, including air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation. Therefore, the accuracy of the WBGT reading depends on the precision of these individual measurements and the algorithm used for the calculation. It does not have a specific accuracy rating like the direct temperature measurements.

  • Q. What is a wet bulb globe thermometer (WBGT)?
    A. A wet bulb globe thermometer (WBGT) is a device used to measure heat stress in various environments by combining multiple parameters such as ambient temperature, humidity, and radiant heat.
  • Q. What are the benefits of using a wet bulb globe thermometer?
    A. Using a wet bulb globe thermometer allows for the assessment of heat stress levels in workplaces, sports activities, or other outdoor environments. It helps to prevent heat-related illnesses by providing crucial information for implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Q. How does a heat stress meter work?
    A. A heat stress meter typically utilizes various sensors to measure key parameters like air temperature, relative humidity, and radiant heat. It calculates the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) index, an indicator of heat stress levels.
  • Q. What are the key features of the heat stress meter?
    A. The heat stress meter offers features such as accurate measurement of WBGT index, easy-to-read display, data logging capabilities, audible and visual alarms, and a rugged design for durability in different conditions.
  • Q. How is the WBGT index calculated?
    A. The WBGT index is calculated by considering three factors: wet bulb temperature, globe temperature, and air temperature. These parameters are combined using a specific formula to determine the heat stress level.
  • Q. What is the role of WBGT in assessing heat stress?
    A. The WBGT index is calculated by considering three factors: wet bulb temperature, globe temperature, and air temperature. These parameters are combined using a specific formula to determine the heat stress level.

Every year, dozens of workers die and thousands more become ill while working in extreme heat or humid conditions. Heat illnesses can affect anyone, regardless of age or physical condition. For example, even elite athletes need to take precautions while practicing their sports in extreme heat conditions. Monitoring the Heat Index (HI) and the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) help you to respond to these conditions, providing plenty of water, rest and shade!

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is a measure of heat stress in direct sunlight. Here, temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover (solar radiation) are calculated. This differs from the Heat Index, which calculates temperature and humidity for shady areas. The Triplett HS10 monitors indoor/outdoor heat index, as well as wet bulb globe temperature to keep you aware of ever-changing conditions to help limit the danger of heat-related injury. This is the perfect safety tool!

The HS10 features include:
