FAQ

The Triplett Model CPK1000IL2 has been discontinued

This product has been replaced with the RWV10G

  • Q: How can a .fca2 file from a Real World Certifier be opened?A: The RWC does not utilize .fca2 files. Instead, all test results from the RWC are saved directly as Excel files. To view your data, the .fca2 file should be converted to an Excel format.

  • Q: We didn't receive a CD to facilitate the software download for transferring results from the RWC1000 to our desktop PC. Can you assist?
A: The CD distribution has been discontinued. All software downloads can now be accessed directly from the Triplett website's download page. Please visit the "Download Triplett Product Software" section on the Triplett Test Equipment & Tools website for your needs or in the Downloads section on this page.

  • Q. I have the RWC1000 cable certifier and I cannot find the driver.exe file to download.
    A. The driver.exe file is part of the software download from our website. You must open the downloaded file then the setup zip file to access it.
  • Q. I have the RWC1000 cable certifier and my cable length results are about 25% higher.
    A. The RWC is specifically for testing UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable. Shielded cables will alter the impedance and the device reading will not be accurate. The LVPRO30 and the LVPRO30-SR can perform cable tests on shielded and unshielded cables.
  • Q. My RWC1000 cable certifier isn’t passing factory made cable as if pins 7 and 8 are bad at the LEFT and RIGHT jack port.
    A. Only the left hand port of the RWC is used for cable tests and only the right side may be used for port tests. Using the wrong side for the wrong test could result in damage to the unit and cause faulty cable readings.
  • Q. what is the minimum length the tester can detect split pairs?
    A. The recommendation on the product is to test cables no less than 3 feet for best accuracy. However we successfully run tests on 15in patch cable in house. The tests just take a little extra time.
  • Q. During power testing phase of a IP camera the display has POE END MID &  readings to go along with each. I don't see a good description of what MID is?
A.MID refers to a Midspan device that uses specific cable pairs to transmit power. When END and MID are both lit up (along with all cable pairs) it means the device is using all pairs on the cable for power.
